Note: If you are using MailChimp for the first time, follow this tutorial.

Setting up the Newsletter

1. To send your subscribers to your MailChimp site, get the embedded code on your MailChimp account.
2. Copy the part of the code that’s highlighted (find the line that starts with <form action=") as shown below:
   
   
   
   
3. Log into your Blogger dashboard, go to Layout and click “Edit” on the “Newsletter” gadget.
4. Replace YOUR MAILCHIMP CODE with the link you copied.

Creating a MailChimp account

1. Go to mailchimp.com and click on the “Sign Up Free” button located on the top right corner.
2. Type your Email, pick a Username and choose a Password.
3. Verify the email you provided and click “Activate Account“. This will open another MailChimp page > click on the “I’m Not a Robot” button.
4. Set up your account – select your plan and click “Next” > on the next page, enter your name and site name. You will also need to add an address – this will be listed below each email you send as the anti-spam protection.
5. If you previously used another mailing service, you can import your contacts. If not, select “No“. Click “Continue“.
6. Finally, when the account is all set up, you can generate your widget.

Generate a MailChimp widget

1. Go to your MailChimp dashboard > click on the “Create” icon located on the left side.
   
   
   
2. Click on “Signup Form” and select “Embedded form” from the list > click “Begin” on the next screen.
   
   
   
3. On the Settings page, click on the “Continue” button.
   
   
   
4. Scroll down the code area and locate the line that starts with <form action="

How to fix this?

To decrease the loading time of your Blogger blog and prevent auto pagination, here are some tips:

1. Use the Blogger “Jump break” feature (read more) in your longer posts. This is recommended when your blog contains lots of images and iframes, although you need to ensure that this doesn’t block certain theme features as explained here.

2. Reduce image sizes / optimize images – you can use a software like Photoshop, GIMP or any other image optimization service.

3. Remove unnecessary widgets and keep only the ones that you absolutely need. Too many widgets will also make your site look cluttered and the theme may not look like in the demo.

Issue #1: Full Post Displaying Instead of Excerpt

Since some of our Blogger themes show the post summary using JavaScript, this may not work well with post titles containing certain symbols. This applies to the double quotation marks which are already used to enclose the title tag, so adding another set of double quotes will just confuse the script.

Solution:

The easiest way would be to edit the post and just replace the double quotes with single quotes (or any other sign). But if you’re having lots of posts containing them, then you will need to modify the HTML code of your theme.

1. First, go to ‘Theme‘ and click the arrow next to ‘Customize‘ > click ‘Edit HTML‘:

2. Once the code editor shows, left click anywhere on the code area and press CTRL + F (or Command + F) which will open a small search box on the top of the editor.

3. Search for the following code snippet:

&quot;<data:post.title/>&quot;

4. Replace it with:

`<data:post.title/>`

Note: If you find this code snippet more than once, replace the other identical codes, as well. Just pay attention to not remove any other code fragments as this will cause the script to stop working.

5. To apply the changes, click the Save button.

Issue #2: Post Details or More Images Not Appearing

If your theme has to display more images or any other info in the post summary and they don’t appear, then most likely you’ve used jump break somewhere in your post which hides content from that point.

Solution:

To show more post content, you will have to remove the jump break from your post manually:

1. Open your Post Editor and click on the pencil icon located on the upper left side, then select <> HTML view.

2. Click anywhere inside the content area and press CTRL + F (or Command + F) to open the search box, then copy the snippet below and paste it inside the box (press Enter to find it):

3. REMOVE the snippet and Update or Publish your post.

How to Make Your Blogger Theme Look Like a Demo Preview

1. Remove previous widgets

Every time you install a new theme, Blogger automatically saves your older widgets in the available sections. To remove them, go to ‘Layout‘ and look for the widgets that you’ve had before. Also, ensure to not remove the ones our theme provides as some cannot be added via Blogger.

2. Clear text style and formatting

Editing your content using the post editor, or copying content from an external text editor will overwrite the theme fonts. As a result, you might notice that fonts look different – in this case, you need to edit your post and clear formatting. For more help, check our guide on Why Fonts Don’t Look Like in the Demo.

3. Choose ‘Original’ size for Pictures

Altering the look of your post images can a major change to the appearance of your site. When inserting images in your Blogger posts or pages, pick the ‘Original’ size to make your images full width. Yet, there’s a good chance your images will look different across themes in terms of sizing and placement. It’s important to ensure the images you intend to use are optimized and match the theme design, also.

How to Fix the Fonts?

To remove the text styles from your older posts:

1. Click on the post that you want to edit and select all the text > click on the 3 dots … and press the ‘Clear formatting’ button marked with the T letter.

2. To apply the changes, click on the ‘Publish’ or ‘Update’ button on the upper right side.

1. Site is set to Private

The slider uses the site feed to read posts and when your site is private, the feed becomes inactive. To check whether your site is Private, access ‘Settings‘ in the left-hand menu > look for the ‘Permissions‘ section and make sure that ‘Public‘ is selected in the ‘Reader access‘ setting.

2. Wrong Feed Setting

If the above solution didn’t fix the problem, then also check your feed settings. Go to ‘Settings‘ and under the ‘Site feed‘ section, check if the ‘Allow blog feed‘ setting is set to Full. If it is not set to Full, the script cannot load any post which might be the reason why the slider stopped working.

3. Wrong label name

Finally, if none of the above solutions worked for you, then double check that you added the same label that appears in your post. For example, if the label has been added as ‘Travel’ in your post editor, but you typed it as ‘travel’ in the code, then Blogger will not find the posts labelled with it. So make sure that you type it exactly as it has been added to your post.

To add custom CSS to your Blogger theme:

1. Go to ‘Theme‘ in the left-hand menu and click on the ‘Customize‘ button.

2. When the Customizer opens, go to ‘Advanced‘ > click the small Arrow and choose ‘Add CSS‘ from the list.

3. Type your CSS code in the ‘Add custom CSS’ field as shown below.

4. When you’ve finished adding it, click the Save button on the bottom right side to save your changes.

Changing the Fonts or Colors in Blogger Customizer

1. To access the Customizer, login to your Blogger dashboard and select Theme from the left-hand menu > click the Customize button.

2. Once the Customizer opens, click Advanced and click on the drop-down just below it to choose the area you’d like to customize.

3. To change the font, click on the Arrow icon in the Font section and below you have the option to set the Font Size and Style. You can also change the backgrounds or text color for various sections by clicking on the color palette.

4. Once you’re done choosing the fonts and colors you want to use, click the Save button on the bottom right side of this page.
